Holidaying in the Forster Tuncurry area is a wonderful way to relax and unwind from the stresses of daily life. At JKL we aim to make your stay as carefree as possible and have included below some great tips to help make your stay in our area even more memorable

Seasonal busy period

Depending on the type of Holiday experience you are after may be determined by the time of year that you choose to Holiday with us. Between September and April is historically our busiest time of year which also aligns well with the warmer seasons. If you enjoy the casual bustle of a small local community and enjoy spending your days swimming or soaking up the rays, this period is ideal for you.

Winter and the Cooler Months

During Winter our community tends to die off a little, which can be perfect for those who aren’t so interested in getting wet in the ocean or our beautiful Wallis Lake but still want to enjoy the pristine features of our area such as bush walking, whale watching or a quiet uninterrupted meal at one of our many great pubs and restaurants. Historically the cooler months are also the most likely time to score a great price on your accommodation based on the lower demands through this period.

Accessing the Lake

The area offers many options to allow you to get out onto the water and experience our beautiful Wallis Lake. From group cruises on the Amaroo, BBQ Boats or why not hire a tinny from one of the many boat houses located along the water’s edge on little street. You do not need a license to hire these low horse powered tinnies and they are a great way to spend a day fishing or having a picnic with the family. For those that have brought their own boat or water craft there are three main boat ramps in the area. One in the Forster Marina, another at Forster Keys and a third at Tuncurry opposite the local skate park. All three-offer trailer parking however be warned during the busy periods they can all get a little busy during the peak periods of the day.

Patrolled Beaches & Swimming Holes

Forster Main Beach and One Mile Beach are our two locally patrolled beaches. Both beaches also benefit from a kiosk/Café making it easy to grab a bite to eat after a morning of relaxation on the beach with friends and family.

Forster Main beach also has an ocean pool – Commonly known as the Bull Ring to the locals. Tuncurry has 'the rock pool', a netted swimming area on the break wall. These two swimming spots are great for younger families whose children may not be ready for the waves just yet. Also these are popular for the fitness enthusiast looking to do some early morning laps before breakfast.

Eating out and Dining

There are many places to eat and drink with an option for every budget or palette. The Forster CBD area is perfect for those looking to take a casual stroll along the water’s edge before dinner at one of the many restaurants. The local “Lakes and Oceans” Hotel also offers bistro dining with many nightly specials. If you are quick you may even score a table on the veranda to watch the sun set over our pristine Wallis lake. The area also has many other local clubs and pubs, most with a courtesy bus service available.
