Heeellllp…

Oh… hello. You’re here. Awkward.
I’m Shy.

No like… It’s literally my name. Shy… anne.
Yes, I’ve heard every version of the joke. No, it’s not getting old.

Anyway…

I started at JKL on the front desk as an Agency Trainee. I had no experience, didn’t know what half the words meant, and thought “arrears” was something you caught from a dirty doorknob.

Fast forward, and I’m now in a Property Management Associate role, and I’m ready to take the next step in my career.

There’s just one problem.

Dan and Rhi have basically said:
“You can’t go anywhere until you replace yourself.”

So… here we are.

Apparently.

What this job actually is

This is not a random job where you answer phones and slowly lose the will to live.

This is a 12–18 month career pathway role designed to take you from:

Agency Trainee → PM Support → Property Management Associate

But first, you learn the whole business.

You’ll start on the front desk, which is basically the heartbeat of JKL. You won’t just be answering calls. You’ll be supporting Client Services, assisting Sales, helping Property Management, and seeing how everything connects.

You’ll learn how clients experience our business from the very first phone call to the final handshake. You’ll support the entire team. You’ll understand how each department works together.

That foundation is what sets you up properly for Property Management.

You’ll complete your real estate licence while working, and you’ll regularly support all areas of the business, so when the time comes to step into Property Management, you’re confident and capable.

What is Property Management really?

You probably have an idea in your head.

Maybe you think it’s chasing rent.
Or handling complaints.
Or being on the phone all day.

That’s honestly what I thought too.

It’s actually about protecting people’s biggest assets.
It’s problem-solving.
It’s building long-term relationships with landlords and tenants.
It’s organisation, communication, and leadership all rolled into one.

It’s fast-paced. It’s challenging. And when you do it properly, it’s incredibly rewarding.

And yes… some days are chaotic. However, that’s where growth occurs.

What you’ll learn

In this role, you’ll learn how to:

  • Deliver exceptional client care
  • Support landlords, tenants, buyers, sellers, and tradies
  • Assist with reporting client experience
  • Help with lead generation and enquiry management
  • Support Client Services and other departments daily
  • Understand the systems, pace, and standards of a high-performing team
  • Build confidence in communication, organisation, and problem-solving
  • And most importantly… my exact Swig order and how to say it confidently at the counter like you’ve ordered it 300 times before

Because details matter.

You won’t just be answering phones. You’ll be building foundations for a long-term career.

Why starting here matters

What I loved most about starting this way:

  • You learn the fundamentals properly
  • You see the whole business before specialising
  • You build confidence fast
  • You’re surrounded by people who want you to win
  • You’re part of something bigger than just a job

We’re basically a real estate family. No lone wolves. No ego battles. We back each other and we grow together.

We celebrate big wins, small wins, and sometimes just the fact that it’s Friday.

Licence support

You’ll be completing your licence while working.

And if you’re eligible… and you’re nice to me (because I am the golden child)…
JKL may even cover the cost of your licence.

Which is a pretty solid deal.

What we need from you

You don’t need experience.
You need the right attitude.

You’ll do well if you’re:

  • Friendly and confident with people
  • Organised or willing to become organised quickly
  • Calm under pressure
  • Hard working and proactive
  • Genuinely interested in building a career in property management
  • Committed to completing your licence

Bonus points if you can handle a busy morning without panicking.

The career pathway

If you put in the work, the pathway looks like this:

→ Agency Trainee
→ PM Support
→ Property Management Associate
→ Property Manager

It’s exactly how I did it.

How to apply

Please send your resume and a brief cover letter.

Dan reads the cover letters.
I’m pretty sure he bins the resumes.

So if you want a real shot, write a good one. Make it sound like you. Not like ChatGPT.

Extra points if you include my name (Shy) in your cover letter, so I know you actually read this and didn’t just panic-apply at 11:47pm.
